DESCRIPTION

Alliance Quiz is one of the competitions in English Week XXIII at State University of Surabaya where the participants will face quiz contest, knowledge of English skills, and the culture which includes in it.

PURPOSE

A place where participants can show their ability of English skill and the culture which includes in it.

DAY AND DATE

Friday, 2nd November 2018

PLACE

Auditorium Prof. Dr. Leo Idra Ardiana, M.Pd and T8 Building, Faculty of Languages and Arts, State University of Surabaya, Lidah Wetan Campus.

REGULATION OF PARTICIPANTS

  • Participants must be the active high school students in East Java (open). It means that “participants outside East Java are also welcomed.” (SMA/SMK/MA)
  • Each school only capable to send three teams for maximal.
  • One team consists of three students.
  • Participants should wear the school’s uniform.
  • Participants must pay the registration fee based on:
    • Batch I (3rd September  – 18th September 2018): IDR 200.000
    • Batch II (21st September  – 22nd October 2018): IDR 220.000
  • Participants must confirm the re-registration before starting the competition
  • Re-registration will start from 06.30 – 07.00 WIB
  • Re-registration cannot be delegated
  • The competition will start at 09.00 WIB
  • Participants must be on time
  • Participants should bring their own stationaries
  • Participants must wear the ID Card during the competition

BASIC RULES OF COMPETITION

  1. Participants have been given the common clue based on the Alliance Quiz’s questions
  2. One team consists of three students with 60 teams for maximal quota
  3. Quiz will be divided into three rounds
  4. Briefing will be given at class before participants start the Round 1 (± 30 minutes)
    1. Round 1
      • Written Quiz (50 questions, 100 minutes)
      • At T8 Building (± 12 classes)
      • 1 class consists of 5 teams with 2 classkeepers
      • The 9 teams can go the next round with the highest score and the fastest
      • Class keepers will check the questions and take the winners (± 35 minutes)
    2. Round 2
      • Pushing Bell Quiz ( 20 questions, ± 30 minutes)
      • in Seminar room at T4 Building
      • There are three round and each round consist of 3 teams
      • There are 3 supervisor and 1 questioner
      • Only 3 teams can go to the next round with the highest point
    3. Round 3
      • Final Rising Hand Quiz (±15 questions, 25 minutes)
      • in Seminar room at T4 Building
      • There are 3 supervisor and 1 questioner
      • All 3 teams will be the winner 1,2,3 based on the highest point level
  5. Classkeepers and questioners will be from the students of English Department

JUDGE

Alliance Quiz is not using the judges and replacing the judges with the supervisor. However, Alliance Quiz has consulted the questions and the answers with Mrs. Ayunita, S.Pd,M.Pd.

DETAIL RULES OF COMPETITION

  1. Round 1 Rules (Written Quiz)
    1. Questions consist of 50 with 100 minutes long
    2. Questions are based on the overview given to the participants
    3. Scoring will be measured by looking at:
      • Correct answer: 3 points
      • Wrong answer: 1 point
      • No answer: 0 point
    4. Teams which pass to the next round will be scored by looking at:
    5. The highest point score recieved from the whole participants
    6. In case there are 2 possible winners, classkeepers will take from the fastest team in submiting the answer
    7. Every participants must obey the classkeepers’s decissions
    8. Participants must fill the aswer as clear as possible
    9. Ambiguity in answering will be considered as wrong answer
    10. Make sure that the new answer is clear enough if it is changed
    11. Participants are only allowed having a discussion with their own team
    12. Cheating, operating electronics tools, lending other stationary’s team, and talking with other team are not allowed
    13. Only stationaries are on the desk
    14. Participants are allowed to submit their work after finishing it before class ended
    15. Participants are not allowed to leave the class only if classkeepers allow
    16. Both answer sheet and question sheet should be returned to the committee
    17. Committe have rights in disqualifying only if participants break the rules
    18. Participants should keep the class silent and calm during the Quiz
    19. Answers will be screened by Assessor Team from the committee
    20. There are two classkeepers (LO) in each class
  2. Round 2 Rules (Pushing Bell Quiz)
    1. There are 9 teams on the Semi Final Round
    2. There are 3 rounds each round consist of 3 teams
    3. Each round consists of 20 questions with ± 30 minutes long
    4. Questions based on the overview given to the participants
    5. Participants will take the number sequence
    6. Scoring will be measured by looking at the highest score collected by the team
    7. Each question has 3 score
    8. There is no reduction score when participants have the wrong answers.
    9. Participants have to fight for each questions given
    10. The questioner will display the questions on LCD for 30 seconds, if the participants know the answer before 30 seconds so they can push the bell
    11. Participants must push the bell if they want to answer the questions
    12. The fastest team pushing the bell will be considered to answer the free question given
    13. After pushing the bell, participants’ chance to answer the question only for 5 second, if more than 5 second the question will be offered to other teams
    14. Each question will be automatically deleted if there are no teams can answer the free questions
    15. If one team fail answering the question given, it will be offered to other teams without reduction score
    16. Only one chance for each team in aswering
    17. Each question will be automatically deleted if there are no teams can answer the question
    18. There will be 1 additional questions if there are teams which have the same points
    19. Bells use the parallel structure which only one lamp is switched on if it is pushed
    20. In case of ambiguous, some classkeepers (LO) who will decide the team in answering the questions
    21. Every participants must obey the classkeepers’s decissions
  3. Round 3 Rules (Pushing Bell Quiz)
    1. There are 3 teams on the Grand Final Round
    2. Each round consists of 15 questions with ± 25 minutes long
    3. Questions based on the overview given to the participants
    4. Participants will take the number sequence
    5. Scoring will be measured by looking at the highest score collected by the team
    6. There are 5 must-answered questions and 10 free questions
    7. Each much-answered questions have 5 points and free questions have 3 points
    8. Each team will take turn to answer their must-answered question and will automatically deleted if the team is not able to answer.
    9. The questioner will display the free questions on LCD for 30 seconds, if the participants know the answer before 30 seconds so they can push the bell
    10. The fastest team pushing the bell will be considered to answer the free question given
    11. Participants have to fight for each free questions given by pushing the bell
    12. After pushing the bell, participants’ chance to answer the question only for 5 second, if more than 5 second the question will be another team.
    13. Each question will be automatically deleted if there are no teams can answer the free questions
    14. If one team fail answering the question given, it will be offered to other teams without reduction scores
    15. There will be 3 additional questions in case there are teams which have the same score
    16. Bells use the parallel structure which only one lamp is switched on if it is pushed
    17. There are some classkeepers (LO) who will decide the team in answering the questions
    18. Every participants must obey the classkeepers’s decissions
  4. Participants must obey all the whole rules given
  5. Judges’ decission is absolute

  • 1st winner: Trophy + Certificate + IDR 1.500.000
  • 2nd winner: Trophy + Certificate + IDR 1.200.000

MATERIAL OVERVIEW FOR ALLIANCE QUIZ

  1. First Round questions (Written Quiz) will be related with Grammar stuff which is suitable for High School students ability, such as tenses, tenses, articles and nouns, prepositions, adjectives and adverbs, pronouns and determiner, modal, auxiliary verbs, conditional sentence, passive voice, question tag, reported speech, gerund and to invinitive, degree and comparison, pefer and would rather, conjunction, phrasal verbs, and so on.
  2. Second and Third Round questions (Speech Quiz) will be related with Grammar (as seen above) and The general knowledge about America, Australia and United Kingdom such as:
    • History, includes the history of the country, Kings and Queens in charge, history in world war and other memorial history, the famous inventor from those country;
    • Traditional Culture, include the traditional house and dance of each country legends and myths stories, the customs;
    • Buildings, includes the history of iconic building of each country, the location of the building etc;
    • Pop Culture, includes musics and its musician, plays and films, the artists and famous masterpieces of those country.

Alliance Quiz's Document Regulation

ATTENTION

  1. Make sure all the registrant’s names which are written in the registration form (Google form) are correct (complete name) with the correct spelling as it is printed on the Family registration card/student card/identity card (KK/KTP/Kartu Pelajar) in order to avoid mistyping on the participant’s certificate.
  2. The committee is not responsible for participants’ typing/writing errors.
  3. Any kinds of misspelling in the certificate CANNOT be changed.
  4. The changes of the participant that has been registered ONLY CAN BE DONE MAXIMUM on October 22nd, 2018, by contacting Miranda (08121558240) to give the confirmation.
  5. The committee is not responsible for the participants’ changing on the day of the competition.
  6. The team who does not re-confirm the registration will BE DISQUALIFIED.
  7. The participant can take part in more than 1 competition, and make sure it is not crash with the other competition’s schedules that have been chosen.
  8. The committee is not responsible for the participants’ crashed competition.
  9. If there is additional information will be sent via SMS to the CP written in the registration form.
